Teman-teman di Wisata Kota Toea memaparkan artikel menarik tentang hotel tertua di Jakarta:
PERNAH dengar nama Hotel Sriwijaya?

Victoria Namkung is getting ready and excited for the third season of Mad Men
I love Mad Men. I’ve watched the the show since day one and am counting down till the season three premiere on August 16. And I’m not alone. The show has received 16 Emmy nominations, is a hit with critics and countless friends have recreated themselves in ’60s style thanks to the Mad Men Yourself application on their website. I think many of us wish we could live in that era even if for a day or two.
Well, I’m a “late adopter” of this Mad Men series. I’m still on Season 1. But, just like Victoria (and many others). I’m quite intrigue with this series. Maybe it’s the suits, the hairstyles or the fifties environment. I’m sold. Mad Men, welcome to Pat’s “Series to Watch” list.
PS: Huffington Post, please resize those stretched Mad Men pictures on that post

TUAW wrote a brief review of WriteRoom.
As writing tools go, WriteRoom is about as basic as they get. By default, you get green letters on a black background (see below). I mean a black background — the entire screen goes black, with just a green flashing cursor awaiting your typing.
As you might know WriteRoom is a writing tool for Mac that sole purpose is to help the writer focus on his/her writing. It features a plain basic text view without any disturbance in a form of chat window, e-mails, twitter, and others.
I wrote this blog post using WriteRoom, and it helps me focus on writing the post (rather than switch between Safari tabs)
For Windows user, you might try Q10 that had a similar feature like WriteRoom. Write on.

Jakarta will always be my favorite city (despite all those traffic and constant chaos in the streets). Here’s a piece written by Aksara Sophiaan from AREA Magazine that list down some of the things you must do to experience Jakarta as a whole cultural bonanza. It’s like one of those “N things to do before you die” minus the die part ….
Known most for its heavy traffic, Jakarta is hardly a typical escapist destination and likelier to be recognized as an economic fortress of the nation. Regardless so, as a melting pot of a variety of culture, Jakarta is founded on the belief of universal functions and aesthetics–a philosophy expected to unify one of the most populated and diversed countries in the world.
by the way, I love this one:
11. Ride on an ontel bicycle to explore Jakarta’s old, historic places: Gedung Mandiri, VOC Galangan, Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa and many others.
(thanks Icha!

The First Live Action Half Life 2 Short Film. Entitled “Escape from City 17″, made by The Purchase Brothers.
The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.
The CG is well made, and the action is great. A nice short movie, especially if you’re a Half Life fans

And I thought selling over-priced tickets are just enough, but No! it doesn’t stop there, now the money-leechers are suing blogs and websites who uses football club crests at their sites.
We received a threat from the Evil Galactic Empire’s Premier League’s legal people yesterday, demanding that we stop using all English Premier League club crests here on The Offside, and all UK club crests too.
This is just pure stupid move by those bollocks.

The Simpson’s intro is getting a makeover while the series crossover from normal cast to HD in Fox channel.
It’s bigger, longer, and reminds me of a stubborn couch that my friend and I struggled to get into a tiny Boston area apartment yesterday using levers, pulleys and the most important moving day tool of all: Gratuitous swearing.
I just wish Indonesian providers would change to HD services as well. *sigh*

Yaay! the Lost drinking game, where you can channel your frustation on so many mysterious things on Lost to alcoholism!
Take a sip whenever: Someone has daddy issues. (Your father being a malevolent spirit force living on a magical island counts as daddy issues.)

Google Chrome is getting near on MacOSX. Mike Pinkerton, one of the Google dev team on Mac Chrome project stated that they had new development regarding the project. It seems the tab feature is getting more stabilize through the application.
As a frequent Google Chrome user in Windows environment, I’m excited hearing this news. If this thing is stable, so long good old Safari on my Leopard system.
